Is the WEATHER going to be ok? Remember that the temperature drops 2°C with every 300 metres of ascent
Is the route and terrain suitable for everyone in your party?
Do you have sufficient time to complete the route safely?
Does someone know where you're going, your intended route, and the time you're expected home?
Do you have a Map, Compass and maybe a GPS device? Do not rely on a mobile phone as your only means of navigation
Do you have warm clothes & waterproofs? What about appropriate footwear? Winter gear including crampons and an ice axe?
Do you have food & drink with you?

Do not drink water from a creek, river or lake
Do you have emergency equipment including a torch, fully charged mobile phone, first aid kit including any medication you need?
Dial 999 in an Emergency

Ask for the Police then Mountain Rescue. They will alert the appropriate team.

keep your phone switched on

Mountain Rescue will call you and send an SMS message in order to help locate you. Try to maintain the battery by only using in an emergency.

Share the numbers of anyone else in your party with the team.

Keep Warm

Ensure you keep warm by using any spare clothing and utilising any available shelter.

It may take some time to rescue you.

Staying Safe

If you are on steep ground wait to be rescued.

Aim to stay together and make yourself visible from paths. Ensure you don't waste your torch batteries.
