Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team operates in the North West of Wales and the Snowdonia National Park. The Team is one of the most active in North Wales, and has been called out to a variety of incidents over the years.
The current Team has been going since it's reformation in September 1996, before then Aberglaslyn was a rescue post, manned by a handful of instructors from the hall . Due to an increase of incidents in the area and staff cutbacks at the hall, it was decided that there was a need for a Mountain Rescue Team to provide the necessary cover in the area.
The Team is made up entirely from volunteers who give up their time freely and come from all walks of life, from farmer, factory workers and Park Wardens to paramedic. There are about 30 fully trained hill members and 5 Trainee's in the Team. They can be called upon 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year. It goes without saying that the team is very grateful to employers and families for their continuing support and understanding.
All Team members are fully trained in first aid, navigation and rope work, skills that are kept up to date with regular training.
The Team like all the other Mountain Rescue Teams in Wales and England have to rely on their own Members for Raising Funds to support Team Training, purchasing new equipment, maintenance of the Vehicle, and day to day running of the Team.
Our Team hopes you enjoy our Website, and if you need any other information about the AMRT or feel that you can help us in any way, then please do so by the Contact Us page on this Website.
Thank you for your valuable time.
